How do you find inspiration?
To find a purpose in life, we must be inspired. Having no inspiration is almost like trying to start a car without spark plugs or ignition. That's impossible. So it's important to find what inspires you to begin and complete your journey or goal. So, what inspires you? In this blog I want to list two important things that have helped me maintain motivation over the last two years.
Family
I think most of us can agree that our family are strong motivators. We love our family members, we go through similar experiences and we usually want the best for each other too. I can definitely say this about most of my uncles. Their self-less attitude and determination to support and protect their household has been inspiring to me. Even those that sadly passed away recently, they ensured they enjoyed life to the full with two hands. So it's always good to reach out to family members, even distant ones, and get to know them. What goals do they have and what have they done to accomplish them?
Cultures
Another motivator is our culture and the culture of other people. Learning about cultures can help us to gain perspective about people, behaviour and places, both past and present. Although we are able to form more connections as a result of globalisation (e.g. air travel), many of us are more distant from cultures than we might assume. Making the effort to explore cultures can inspire us. The experience you may gain from reading a book is so different from watching a film. And exploring a culture in person is entirely unique. The difference between the way people and places are depicted in the media from in-person experience, is remarkably different.
Our Creator
I recently asked a closed friend about what inspires them in life. It didn't take long for them to say that God, their Creator, inspires them. I know a lot of people doubt the existence of a God, but the way she described the thought is beautifully descripted. She said that our Creator provides so much for us for free without expecting much in return - air, water, the natural world and so much more - so that we can enjoy life to the full. This inspires her to give of herself to others by being selfless.
