Why your choice of music matters

Each week, most of us have at least one bad day. Even when I was on a tropical vacation the other month, I was stuck in my room for one day due to illness! Jokes aside, you might be the subject of ongoing unjust treatment within the community or household you live in. Whatever the root cause of the negative feeling, have you ever considered evaluating your choice of music? Why music of all things?

Most of us are drawn to music and we often spend hours each day listening to it. Annually, most audio platforms share with us how many minutes we spend listening to music. It's mind-boggling that in 2021, I listened to around 36,000 minutes of music on both Spotify and YouTube Music. What we have to be mindful of is the content and kind of music that we feed our mind and ears. Music can influence our thoughts and emotions without us even realising it. I'm surprised that on Spotify there is even a mix for when you are moody!

I encourage you all to go through your playlists from time to time and filter out those songs that bring you down. Save songs that inspire and motivate you. Songs that can help you to discover and embrace new languages and cultures. You may find that the content of these songs will equip you with the strength to endure challenges successfully.
